Chalkboard everything has been all the rage as of late.  From stripes on walls to itty bitty labels, chalkboard paint creates a fun way to customize whatever you want.  You can buy chalkboard paint in nearly any form, from traditional paint to spray paint, and if you're really ambitious, you can even make your own in any color you desire.  

To make your own chalkboard paint, all you have to do is add 2 tablespoons of undsanded tile grout per cup of paint.  It's that simple, but if you'd like, you can read the full tutorial over at Martha Stewart.

So now that you have this paint, what exactly do you do with it?  As I said earlier, the possibilities are endless.

Paint your walls:

When you paint a wall with chalkboard paint, you create a great place to leave yourself notes, allow your kids to draw, or create completely customizable and easily changeable decor.  The very top image of the chalkboard wall in Michelle's house (from 4 Men 1 Lady) is still one of my favorite chalkboard walls.  I love the permanent decals that were added to the top.

Create labels:

Whether labeling a glass, mug, or simply a tag, adding a little chalkboard label is a super easy DIY.  Either cut out a square of the contact paper and stick it on your object, dip it in the chalkboard paint, or tape it off and spray paint away.

Get organized:

Two of my favorite spaces for chalkboards are in the office and the kitchen.  Hidden inside of cupboards or on the backs of doors are a great place to create menus, make grocery lists, and create calendars.
