A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Goose Creek Candle Co., asking if I would do a review of their candles. I've been getting a little tired of our current candle selection at home, so I was incredibly excited at the chance to try something new. However, to be perfectly honest, I was a little worried.
When it comes to smells, I am incredibly picky. When I usually go buy candles, I will sit in the aisle and smell every candle until I finally find one I'm satisfied with. Since I had to pick my scent online, however, I didn't have the luxury to pre-smell every candle. I wanted a candle with a soft and warm scent - something that would be perfect for fall, so I decided on the Vanilla Cashmere Scented Jar Candle from their American Heirloom collection.
When it arrived, I tore into the box, excited to smell the candle, only to be greeted by another box. I felt like I was playing with those Russian Nesting Dolls.

When it arrived, I tore into the box, excited to smell the candle, only to be greeted by another box. I felt like I was playing with those Russian Nesting Dolls.
When I finally reached the candle, I was rather taken aback by its striking design. The lack of a huge label plastered across the jar was refreshing, and the container itself is very clean and elegant. The jar makes the candle look really expensive. In fact, when Noel came home, the first thing he said was, "Geez, Kirsten...did you go and buy the most expensive candle in the store?!" He then later told me he really liked the look of the candle, and we decided loved the modern feel of the cover.
Once I opened the jar, I was greeted by a very soft scent, which, to my surprise, I really enjoyed. The scent was incredibly mild, as opposed to many candles whose smells are completely overbearing. At first, I was actually worried that the smell wasn't strong enough. I lit the candle (I was really happy to see two wicks in there), and then went upstairs for awhile. About a half hour later, I came back downstairs, and the whole living room/dining room/kitchen smelled heavenly. So, my fear of it being too mild was put to rest.
The candle burns very evenly (thanks to the two wicks), and I'm thoroughly impressed at how long it burns. So far, I have had it lit several hours every day for over a week, and this is what it currently looks like:
The only downfall is that I wish there was some way I could smell the candles before I order them. I would LOVE it if they offered some sort of sample pack that included a tea light of every scent they sell. I would order that in a heartbeat, and I would be far more likely to order a wide array of candles from them in the future.
So my overall review? I love these candles. I have officially been converted. And, for those of you who want to try them out, from now until September 30th, Through the Front Door readers will receive 25% off their entire order at Goose Creek Candle by using the promo code 1050.
Not only has Goose Creek Candle Co offered this special discount, they have also so graciously offered to give away an American Heirloom candle of your choice to one lucky reader!
