master bathroom remodel plans

How was everybody's Easter?  We're gearing up for round two this weekend here, and I hope to knock out a few more projects before the festivities.  Lately, I've been thinking a lot about how I want to move forward with our master bathroom, so today I thought I'd show you a few options I'm considering.

I know I for sure want to replace the shower/tub surround with subway tile, and then I'm going to add board & batten around the rest of the bathroom.  My current debate is what tile to choose for the floor.  I'm leaning towards either a light gray, linear tile, or else a light "wood" looking tile.

Tile Options

My only concern with the wood is that it's a little more "different" than the gray.  Normally, I'm all about different, but with us hopefully selling the house soon, it may be smart to take the "safer" route.  However, I do love the warmth the wood tile brings to the space.  Below are a few quick drawings I did to show you how the different colors work together.

Currently, our vanity is maple, so this is what it would look like with a lighter gray tile paired next to it.

However, I love the crisp contrast achieved with a darker, java colored vanity.  Because of this, I'm not opposed to re-staining the vanity (I've actually had my eye on this tutorial by Monica Wants It for a while now).

This is what it would look like if we left the vanity as is and used a lighter, "wood" floor.

And here's the mock up if the wood floor was paired with a dark vanity.

Which would you guys pick?

  1. I like the vanity as is with the wood floor. Love the warmth that it brings. Enjoy!
