board & batten

Alright guys, we want your advice!  We're putting up board & batten in our bathroom (which we LOVE so far), and we're trying to decide how to finish it off.  People have been leaving their opinions on Facebook and Instagram, but just in case you don't follow along, I thought I'd see what you all lovely readers have to say over here.  Alright, here are our options:

A) Option A would be to leave the board & batten how it is, with no sort of cap on top.  It's clean, it's simple.  Definitely a contender.

B) Option B would be to add a board to the top to act as a sill or top cap, and then add a strip of cove moulding beneath the top piece.  The cove piece adds a bit more detailing, and helps smooth out the transition between the two boards.

C) Option C is to just put a top edge cap without the cove moulding beneath.  This "finishes" the top off, while still maintaining clean lines and feeling simple.

So, what do you think?  What would you do in your home?  Let's hear it!

  2. I think B is a great option to properly finish off the wainscoting properly. But you might want to increase the depth on that ledger piece if you'd ever consider resting picture frames or other small objects on it. (Perhaps a small rabbet, set in from the front face 1/2" would be nice too for setting things on the ledge without the threat of them sliding off). But it looks like you're going for a craftsman look, and I'd be leery of using a cove molding (concave it looks like?) with a curve--as I feel craftsman-inspired look needs a more rectilinear feel-like a 45º cut moulding. http://media.rd.com/rd/images/rdc/family-handyman/2003/11/Craftsman-Trim-af.jpg
