wedding wednesday: brooches

Hey guys...I'm back!  I know, I know, I'm so far overdue on blog posts it isn't even funny.  But, I'll spare you the excuses and get right to what I came here for: a super exciting wedding wednesday inspired DIY!

Today for Wedding Wednesday, I thought I'd feature a growing trend in bridal bouquets: brooch bouquets.  I think they are so fun/beautiful/vintage/unique...I could go on forever about how much I adore these.  Don't you agree?

Drawing inspiration from these beautiful gems, I thought I'd share with you a DIY I recently did for our own house.  I have been searching for a buffet for our dining room for some time now, and knew I wanted to add my own personal touch to it.  When I stumbled upon this bad boy, I knew I had found what I was looking for.

I took off all of the old hardware, filled the holes, gave it a fresh coat of black paint, and then finished it with a water based protectant (I used Minwax Polycrylic Protective Finish).  Once the paint was dry, I installed the beautiful Keepsake Brooch Knobs from Anthropologie.

And this is how it turned out.  I'm debating whether I want to keep it plain black or add some sort of pattern to it in the future...but for now, I'm happy with the results.
