So maybe bloody mary's aren't exactly French...but I love them, so lay off. :) Also, see that fabulous buffet back there? More to come on that in a later post.
Along with the bloody mary's, we had deeeelicious mimosas, and wine from baby bottles. Yes, you read that right. When my maid of honor and I were in Paris last year, we went to this amazing hole-in-the-wall fondue restaurant where they served, yes, you guessed it, their wine in baby bottles. It was SO much fun...and if you're ever in Paris, you NEED to go there. So, needless to say, I laughed pretty hard when I saw the bottles.
We had this amazing spread of food: strawberry and nutella crepes (which is one of my all-time favorites) as well as croissants, French bread, fresh fruit, three different types of quiche, and some oh-so-delicious cupcakes.
As you can probably see (and guess), our main wedding color is aqua, so everything at the shower (even all the presents, I swear), was that color. Well, I was locked upstairs while they were all setting up, and apparently they all shared a good laugh in my behalf because when they went to the cupboard to get plates to put the food on, one of the girls saw these black plates on the top shelf. Thinking they would match pretty well, they took them down, only to find out those too were aqua. When I came downstairs, they gave me a pretty hard time, saying, "Really Kirsten, you WOULD have aqua plates." What can I say :) But hey, they matched the party decor!
Also, when I came downstairs, I was greeted by these lovely ladies (my bridesmaids), and much to our surprise, we all were wearing blue. And I swear, none of us planned it. We shared a good laugh over that one.
Then all my other lovely friends showed up, we ate, drank, played games, and opened gifts. Oh, and guess what I got?! An aqua Kitchenaid mixer! I have the best bridesmaids ever, I swear. The only disappointment was that Kelsey, my vet-schooler bridesmaid, wasn't able to steal the golden retriever puppies she had promised to giveaway as party favors ;)
(If you haven't seen Bridesmaids, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR...get on it).
Later that evening, we headed downtown to the Radisson, where I was greeted by another large display of scrumptious food (those little black things on the bottom right are homemade chocolate covered pomegranate seeds - TO DIE FOR), and even more presents (what did I do to deserve all of this?!). We opened gifts, and then headed out for our first outing of the evening: The Pedal Pub.
The Pedal Pub is the most fun thing ever. You all sit around it and bike from bar to bar. If you have one in your city, you absolutely must get a group together and try it out. This is my second one and I already want to do it again.
After two hours on the pedal pub, we headed back to the hotel, got into our black dress attire, and headed out on the town for the rest of the evening. It was such a wonderful evening and I couldn't have asked for a better group of girls to spend it with.
PS, sorry the pictures aren't the greatest quality, I had to steal them from all my friends...and thanks to my MOH for snapping all the ones she did at the shower!
