This past Friday, we got word back that everything went well with our appraisal for our current home, which means we'll be closing late next week. And guess what the coolest part is? Our buyer bought all of our furniture/decor. We couldn't be more excited because while we really like our furniture, we aren't emotionally attached to it, and let's be real, not having to move it is going to be the greatest thing ever. Even if we hadn't sold it all with the house, Noel really wanted to try to sell just about everything on craigslist and buy new furniture for our new house. I on the other hand wasn't as fond of that situation, just because I knew we wouldn't get nearly as much if we sold each piece individually, and it would be a lot of work on my end. However, being able to leave everything in its place where it is, and sell it as a package? Yeah, you don't have to ask me twice.
Yesterday, we got a storage unit and started moving boxes of the stuff we aren't leaving here (like all of my college books that Noel always complains about having to carry - oops) so as you can imagine, it's go time for us. We didn't want to start packing before we got the results from the appraisal back, just in case it didn't appraise high enough, and even though we aren't moving furniture and all of our decor, there is still a surprising amount of stuff to move.
It's kind of surreal to think that next week we're going to walk out our door, with all our furniture and decorations still in it, like we're going to Target or something, and then never come back. Oh sweet little condo, I think I'm going to miss you.
I will say, even though we're feeling the crunch to get everything packed, it's really nice to not have to move everything in one day. Our storage locker is only a mile away from our current house, so we can just bring a carload or two over each day. And then after we move into our next home, Noel will be able to just swing by after work (since he works only a few miles from our current house), pick up a carload, and head home. No big moving truck, no crazy stressful moving day, I'm really liking how this whole moving process is going this time around. Plus, I'm super weird and absolutely love unpacking, and moving in slowly is going to be great for that. I love taking my time, going through each box, finding a new home for its contents, and then crazily organizing everything that gets put into storage.

ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing another step in the house hunting/moving process!
congrats!! and that sounds like the most amazing moving strategy ever!
ReplyDeleteIt’s a huge relief on your part that the buyer purchased all the furniture in your house as well. You don’t have to worry about moving them, which is kind of a hassle. Another thing, it’s good to have everything brand new in your new house, right? New house, new furniture and new life! A fresh new start for your family. ^_^

There's nothing more amazing than moving without having to carry everything you had in your previous home. It's less stressful and a lot easier. Plus, the exciting part is, your new house will have new furniture. That means you'll have a very new surrounding to live in.
