wedding wednesday: pearls

Pearls are a classic and timeless accent to your wedding attire, and they can achieve the same effect in your home.  Whether we realize it or not, we've probably all seen pearl used in someone's home before.  A prime example: mother of pearl in bathroom furnishings.

While these small little details are a great way to add a touch of glam to any space, I'm thinking bigger is better.  Here are my two favorite ways to use mother of pearl as a focal point in your space.

1. Mother of Pearl Capiz Shell Chandelier
I think these are simply stunning, and they add some serious glam to whatever room they adorn.

2. Mother of Pearl Wallpaper
Yes, you read that right - they make wallpaper with mother of pearl on it.  And the result?  A super-luxurious, high end space.  Drool.

How cool, right?!  I know I was shocked when I stumbled upon that.

let there be light!

Drumroll please...guess what we finalllllly bought today?!  These beautiful, stunning, oh-so-amazing PENDANT LIGHTS!!

If you can't tell, I'm ridiculously excited...because gone are the days that I will have to look at this awkward, too small, always flickering, poor excuse of a light fixture.

We'll be replacing it with the three aforementioned beauties, positioned in all their glory above our island.  And yes, I am that nerdy to post the same picture three times.  Don't judge me.

Now, if only I can somehow sweet talk my oh-so-kind and loving fiance to install them before I come home next?? :)

pantry design

In our kitchen, we have this big gaping hole to the right of our cabinets.

You'll have to excuse the mess that has exploded on our countertop in that picture.  However, you can see from the photo that the space is such a waste.  It's too small to put a table or anything of the sorts, so I figured we have one of two options for this space.

Option #1: put a desk in the area

I love these built in desks that people often put in their kitchens, and the space would be just about the perfect size for one.  However, if we decided to go that route, we'd need to find matching cabinets and countertops, because it would drive me crazy to just put a random desk in the corner.  If we're going to do it, we're going to do it right.   And finding everything that matched would be no easy task.

Not to mention, although I love the built in desk, I highly doubt that we would ever actually use the space.  More than likely, it would just end up collecting junk (like you see in the oh-so-beautiful picture above).  So, I decided to scrap that idea.

Option #2: build a walk-in pantry

We decided to put a small, walk-in pantry in the space instead, because we feel like it will be a much better use of the space.  It allows us to add a ton more storage, and even though it's just a small addition, it will help to increase the home's value.

I absolutely love the image below, which is pretty much what we're going for once we add the pantry.

When it comes to pantry design, it's more than just the outside that matters; where it really comes to life is inside.  Check out some of these beautiful storage solutions I have stumbled upon.

I know the last image isn't your traditional pantry, but how fun is it?

wedding wednesday: chandeliers

One of the trends I am luh-luh-looving in wedding design is chandeliers.  I mean, you can't argue that this image isn't stunning.

So I've rounded up some images of my favorite chandeliers for the home and have posted them below...enjoy!

master bedroom design

Today kicks off an exciting week: SPRING BREAK!! I am absolutely loving having a weeklong break from school - it's so fabulous. And better yet, we are currently lounging in our Vegas hotel and about to leave for Lake Havasu to spend the rest of the week soaking up some sun.  Needless to say, I am beyond excited.

So, to keep things short and sweet in the light of our vacation, I thought I'd share with you today the design we have decided on for our bedroom.

We're well on our way with the progress of this room: the walls have been painted (although I still need to paint the darker wall if I decide to do so), and we already have the nightstands & sheets.  However, I need to paint the nightstands, make the headboard, and find all the fun little furnishings.  So, once I'm back in May, things will get rolling and (hopefully) get completed!  Have a happy Monday!

Have you all heard of Joss & Main? It's my latest obsession.  Essentially, it's like a Groupon for everything home related.  You sign up to become a member (it's free!), and then you get access to exclusive sales on some seriously amazing items!

One of my favorite parts of the site is the "curators collection."  Each Tuesday, they feature a new collection which was assembled by a different designer from within the design community.

Sales usually run for 72 hours, so you have a small window of time to snatch up these amazing deals.  Here are some of my favorite items that are currently for sale right now:

wedding wednesday: tulle

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that tulle is one of the most overused things when it comes to wedding decor.  Don't get me wrong - ceiling draping done right can completely transform a room - but when everything you see is covered in tulle?  Not so much my style.  In the right doses, however, I think this fabric is wonderful.

Now, this isn't really a fabric you generally see in your home, so you're probably wondering where I'm going with this.  Well, if you happen to have a little girl at home, this fabric could soon become her best friend.  There is something about tulle that just screams "princess," so why not create a fun and fabulous little space for your own princess at home?

You can add a little whimsy to her room though tulle pom poms and garlands...

...or create a magical little space with a tulle canopy and fairy lights.

You can throw her a party fit for a princess...

...but by far my favorite option for this new fun fabric?
Create a tulle bedskirt - it's like a tutu for her bed!

I mean, can you BELIEVE that picture below?
What little girl wouldn't absolutely FREAK out over this?

I'm drooling.  And wishing I could be 5 again.
